Hi all! It’s Maria here again, and today I’m going to talk a little bit about tutoring.

When I say tutoring, I don’t just mean other peope who are at uni, I also mean in local schools and academies. Tutoring is brilliant to put on a CV and it is really easy if you know how to deal with kids!

So how can you actually get into tutoring?

Well, a lot of Universities actually have a Careers Services department and they can help put you in touch with the people who need help. They may contact a school for you or may give you the number to contact the school. They might even find out what you’re interested in tutoring and possibly hand you over to specific departments within the university for you to tutor other students.

Anyway, this was just a small tip for you to think about, any questions, just email me @:

Good Luck!

I know these tips don’t seem to be in any particular order, but there is a reason behind this. I want you to show initiative and try to do this for yourself, not just follow my tips. So today is going to be how to dress for an interview. Yes, you need to get the interview first, but I’ll leave you to think about that for now ;)

OK, so you got the interview and now you’re in panic mode. “What should I wear!?” “What should I say!?”

The answer to this isn’t complicated, but there isn’t a fixed answer, so I can tell you point blank. I’ll give a few examples.

Different firms have different cultures. If you work for Apple, they like their workers to weard jeans and a T-shirt, to feel comfortable at work as if it was their home, or a second home. But if you work at Liverpool FC, they like to be more ‘professional’. You have to wear smart clothes, a uniform in some positions. (I don’t mean being a player for LFC, I mean working for them as a waiter/waitress or a bartender).

So how are you going to find out about what you should wear for an interview?

Well, find out a bit about the company, do some research. If it’s for a shop, go and see what uniform they wear. If they do wear a uniform, it is highly likely that you will need to ‘Suit Up’ as Barney from How I Met Your Mother would say.

I hope this helped in some way, there’s not really much I can tell you about this topic. If you’re ever completely unsure, just wear smart clothes, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
